010 - EIXAMPLE

This apartment in the Eixample opens a new chapter written between New York and Argentina. Its owners arrived in Barcelona to begin again, bringing with them not a style but the memory of how a home ought to feel. Two different ways of living that had to meet here, and that agreement was written in boiserie, doors with small panes of glass, oak underfoot and brass in the smallest gestures.

Built in the sixties and made of small rooms and little light, the apartment became the blank canvas of a full renovation that stripped it back to its structure and drew it again in pursuit of a single idea, that the light should reach the far end. The boiserie and the glazed panes set the rhythm of the walls, while the timber panelling orders the space and clears it visually as it brings warmth. Brightness passes from one room to the next, and the home stays continuous even with its doors closed.

Then, temperature. Warm textures and an always indirect light slow the pace of the city as the afternoon goes on. In the end, a home is not remembered for how it looks, but for how it feels to walk in.
