009 - LILAC

A former tobacco shop, once dark and heavily compartmentalised, is reimagined as a luminous and serene home in Barcelona, designed to evolve with the rhythms of everyday life. The project is conceived as a full renovation with a change of use, transforming a space originally intended for commercial purposes into a warm, flexible residential interior shaped by light and calm.

The new layout enhances visual continuity, allowing natural light to flow through the home from front to back. Original features such as exposed natural stone and existing ceiling beams are preserved and brought into dialogue with a contemporary architectural language, adding character, memory, and material depth.

Designed as a transformable living space, the home adapts seamlessly to both domestic life and creative work. A lightweight screen filters light and modulates the relationship between rooms, allowing for future changes without requiring further construction.

Together, a neutral palette, noble materials, and carefully layered indirect lighting create a timeless atmosphere that echoes the quiet elegance of a Mediterranean home within an urban setting.
